I'm a BIG fan of cookies, especially chocolate cookies...and THAT just looks so yummy!

"A solidarity for unemployed people" is a NGO group and they founded a development agency of Dokdo cookies.

They developped this solidarity for people to recognize Dokdo that it is Korean territory, which I think is a great idea.

Summer of Dokdo in Carnegie Hall

A beautiful guitar music, "Summer of Dokdo" was played in Carnegie Hall on 24th.
It is composed by Jang-Soo Jeon, a classic guitarist who is a student in University of Yale.
Everyone was touched by his beautiful performance and had a moment to remember Dokdo island.

His plan is to compose more music about Dokdo and complete rest of the seasons.
After visiting Dokdo soon, he is going to compose Autumn of Dokdo.

Korea Cup Yacht race and Dokdo

He was always precautious about mentioning Dokdo to the public as Japanese territory, until today when Prime Minister of Japan, Hatoyama expressed Japan's position on Dokdo and he sure made it pretty clear.
He mentioned Dokdo as Takeshima during his speech and said that Japan has no plan to change their claim that Dokdo is Japanese territory.

Now it's official. It seems like Japan is ready to take over our sovereignty.
But are we ready???

Japanese textbook controversy has always been an obstacle between Korea and Japan.
What will the students learn from wrong histories? The untruth.
It will be a never-ending conflict.
Japanese government approved textbooks that literally claim Dokdo, Japanese.
They stayed silent despite our actions to keep Dokdo our territory, but all of a sudden, they officially declare a conflict.

At this point, our government's respond and reactions are more than important.

Lately, Korea is spending a hard time with numerous tragic news. What will be the solution to this tragedy?

In the middle of city of Seoul, a huge LED screen panel of Dokdo has been put up.

It shows that Dokdo is 431km far from this point.

They say that a huge amount of money were spent for this advertisement, and the purpose is to make the citizens acknowledge that Dokdo is our soul territory and it is our responsibility to protect it.

On 19th, 7 university students have protested in front of the Blue House(presidential residence of Korea) for a demand of an official explanation.
Since the president's reckless remark on Dokdo, the people of Korea have lost balance. If the president turns his back, who can we trust on to?
However, courageous university students faced a risk to protest against the doors of the Blue House and ask for a clear explanation.
This protest didn't last long and in return, some of the students got arrested by the police for violating the regulation of protest.
The police were handling protesters quite violently which they do not deserve and also, this phenomenon made people wonder whose side the government is on.
They refused to make any excuses nor explanations.

Seriously, whose side are you on?

What is the truth Mr President?

President Lee Myung Bak is in the middle of crisis for making reckless remarks on Dokdo.
His remarks were clear enough to make Korean people devastated and hurtful.
When the Japanese press Yomiuri officially announced the truth of what Mr President has stated about Dokdo during his visit to Japan, everybody was shocked.
According to Yomiuri, President Lee remarked, "Now is not the right time to discuss about Dokdo. You should wait until we set on an appropriate moment..."
It seemed like the President whom we have given trust turned his back on our territory.
Dokdo is a number one territory that Korea needs to protect from Japan and if President Lee neglects it, people of Korea will also turn their backs from him which might lead to an impeachment.
So far, none of official statement has made from the President and we are still waiting for it.
All the efforts we have made will turn to nothing.

Kim Jang-Hoon, another great donation for Dokdo

Kim Jang-Hoon did it again!

He donated two hundred million won for Dokdo.

It may not seem of a big surprise since he has already done so much for Dokdo, but that amount of money is not a joke. It is not easy to give away so much from a single person even though he may be a big celebrity.

He sure is patriotic and brave and us Koreans, especially the Korean government must learn from him... I hope his efforts pays off real soon.

Dokdo dance performance in Hollywood

Korea Union Danserz is a dance team from Korea who performed for the opening show of Korean Festival in Hollywood.
They matched their shirts with Dokdo slogan and the performance they showed was a message that Dokdo is Korean territory.
It was a fusion dance performance, mixture of Korean traditional dance and hip-hop.
The members are to perform their dance show and deliver Dokdo's messsage as much as possible through many of their upcoming shows.
It is a great idea and an easy way to understand Dokdo's position. Through many cultural activities and events, I hope many youth who care about Dokdo participate and spread Dokdo's message.

An exhibition of ancient maps of Dokdo and East sea, was held today(2nd March) in the National Assembly library of Korea.
The exhibition is to be held until the 9th of March.

40 ancient maps are to be shown to the public and among them, there are maps made in Meiji era which shows Japan didn't include Dokdo as their territoty. This proves they admitted Dokdo as Korean territory.

The Advertisement on Dokdo is to be screened in Times Square starting from the very first day of March.

This project will be more than significant for Koreans that the first of March is a meaningful day in Korea.

We call that day "Samiljeol", Independence movement day.

The day when Korea stood up against Japan's colonial rule.

It is not surprising that the project is planned by Korean singer Kim Jang-Hoon and prof Seo Kyung-Duk for they are already known for making a huge dedication for Dokdo. It is said that Kim Jang-Hoon will be taking care of the expenses for this Advertisement.

It is expected that this project would bring a great synergy effect and a chance to spread our concern about Dokdo.

There are numerous maps that prove Dokdo as part of Korean territory.

Among them, this map is very convincing(in my opinion) .

It shows that UN Forces included Dokdo in KADIZ(Korean Air Defense Identification Zone).

In 1950, during the Korean war, the UN established an air defense zone in order to defend Korea. Dokdo is included in KADIZ and they are still using this standard today.

This clearly proves that UN is protecting Korea as well as Dokdo, which they regard it as part of Korean territory.

Sorry, Dokdo.

It is a first documentary movie dedicated to Dokdo, released in 2008. Choi Hyun-Mook directed the movie and Korean singer, Kim Jang-Hoon participated as a narrator.
Kim Jang-Hoon is also known as Dokdo activist who donated over 4billion won to Dokdo and he is also one of the celebrities in Korea who supports Dokdo.
In the poster of this movie, we can find unseen messages that director Choi Hyun-Mook wanted to point out.
It is rather sarcastic actually. The movie poster shows two islets of Dokdo in a ramen(Japanese noodle) bowl and a Japanese flag is planted on top of the islet. It looks as if the meal is ready to be served to someone, obviously Japanese.
A slug on the top saying, "So you are going to eat it(Dokdo) up, just like that?" and the main title, Sorry Dokdo.
It is not so difficult to notify the intention of the poster. The message is quite clear and sarcastic showing that the blame is on Japan who is trying to take Dokdo away from Korea.
The story contains Korea's effort to fight against Japan's attempt to dominate Dokdo.
Japan's claim is being more insistent day by day and Korean government's correspond is hardly effective. Because of this, the Korean citizens organized themselves many plans and involved in many events for one purpose; to raise the awareness of Dokdo.

This film reflects people's endless effort, their strive to raise the awareness of Dokdo to the public. Above all, it is crucial to raise attentions from Korean people.
"Sorry, Dokdo" is a touching story, a real drama of ordinary Korean citizens trying to protect from controversies and raise the awareness of Dokdo to the world.

Dokdo Ad to Be Screened in Times Square

A video clip promoting Korea's legitimate sovereignty over the Dokdo islets will be screened on a billboard in Times Square in New York on March 1, the anniversary of the March 1 Independence Movement.

Seo Kyoung-duk, a visiting professor at Sungshin Women's University, on Monday said promotion of the islets and the name "East Sea" for the body of water between Korea and Japan will begin on the Times Square billboard normally broadcasting CNN news. All expenses including billboard advertising and video production costs will be covered by private donations from pop singer Kim Jang-hoon. The 30-second ad will be broadcast twice an hour, 48 times a day. The billboard will be leased for four months.

Ahn Yong-Bok

Ahn Yong-Bok was a Korean fisherman in Joseon dynasty (1392-1910) and for Koreans, he is well-know as a hero and a guardian of Dokdo Islets. More likely a citizen diplomat for the Korean people.

When the Korean government didn't bother to retrieve the right of Dokdo's sovereighty, Ahn Yong-Bok headed to Japan as a humble status of a fisherman and firmly claimed Dokdo as Korean territory. He is the one who acknowledged that Dokdo is part of Korea and our precious land.

According to Sukjong Sillok, Ahn Yong-Bok received verification from the Dokugawa Administration of Japan that Ulleungdo and Dokdo are Joseon’s territories.
Thanks to his effort, until now Dokdo is one of Korean people's greatest interest and could keep in our noble history. We can claim Dokdo as Korea's territory and the truth of Dokdo with dignity.

Illegal annexation of Dokdo by Japan

In the middle of Russo-Japanese war(1904-1905), Japan disseized Dokdo and incorporated the islets to into the Shimane Prefecture(Shimane Prefecture Public Notice n.40)

This annexation is a violation of international law and cannot be justified for any reasons. It is clearly an infringement on the undeniable sovereignty of Korea and also an illegal action of Japan under the law of the international society.

Korea was annexed to Japan in 1910 and the colonial rule finally ended in 1945 with Japan's defeat after the World War II. In 1945, when Korea gained independance, Dokdo was also returned back to Korea. Dokdo was excluded from Japan's territory and was reaffirmed by the Peace Treaty with Japan. This treaty is also known as San Francisco Treaty, September 8 1951.
Since then, Dokdo has been under effective control of Korea.

It is clear that the sovereignty over Dokdo is definitely Korean.

Dokdo, consisting of two rocky islets(Dongdo and Seodo), has been called several different names in the past, but today the island is called Dokdo by Koreans and Takeshima by the Japanese.

The standard name by the U.S. Board on Geographical Names (BGN) is Liancourt under the country category of South Korea and Take-shima under that of Japan. However, the BGN makes it clear that its geographical names do not necessarily reflect the U.S. view of the sovereignty over geographical features.

Dokdo in the East Sea is Korean territory geographically.
Geographical records from Joseon Dynasty; Sejong Sillok Jiriji* and the Chronicle of King Sejong show this fact.
In these records, they indicate the islets as Usando.

Dokdo is located in the easternmost of Korea. Situated 87.4km to the south-east t of Ulleungdo, 151km away from the truce line, and 160km away from the Oki island of Japan. The latitude of Dokdo is between 131˚52'07"degrees north and its longitude is between 37˚14'12"degrees east.

In Sejong Sillok Jiriji, it is recorded that Dokdo and Ulleungdo are close to each other that Dokdo can be seen from Uleungdo but not from Oki island in Japan.

It is especially more visible with the naked eye on a clear day.
The residents of Ulleungdo recognized Dokdo as their belonging island since a long time.

In 1696, the sovereignty over Dokdo was finalized officially by receiving confirmation of Korean jurisdiction from the Tokugawa Shogunate of Japan.
In 1905, the Imperial Japan officially declared Dokdo its territory in the opening stages of its forced annexation of the entire Korean Peninsula. It was consistent with the principle of national independence that Korea later reclaimed sovereignty over the island in upon liberation from the Japanese colonial rule 1945.
